Excel style date functions Update Link / Bad Link?
Equivalent versions of every date and time functions found in Excel and Open Office. These functions are designed to operate in exactly the same way (with parameters in the same order), except that they use the a serial date number based on the commonly used Julian Period (or Julian date). This is the number of days from 24 November 4714 BC in the Gregorian calendar (or the number of days from 1 January 4713BC in the Julian Calendar). In Excel for Windows, they count the number of days from 1 January 1900; while Excel for the Mac counts the number of days from 1 January 1904. We can see no benefits for the Excel methodology, however if you want to use their serial numbers then the function ExcelToJulian and JulianToExcel are provided for this purpose.
