PV-WAVE Graphics  
PV-WAVE provides a tremendous variety of displays and plots, including: 2D, 3D and 4D plots, 2D and 3D contours, animation, 2D, 3D and 4D vector plots, wire mesh surfaces, shaded surfaces, Z-buffered graphics, isosurfaces, 2D and 3D polygons, polar plots, time series graphs, scatter plots, ray-tracing,... These plot types and functions are frequently accessed using as little as one instruction, and multiple plots can be readily combined to provide additional insight into your data.

Xplot  
This is a general package for creating X-Y plots that also allows for sophisticated data visualization, processing, manipulation and analysis. It is written in IDL.

Graphics Programs

PV-WAVE - Oregon Researchers Visualize Ocean  
In Corvallis, Oregon, animated movies of one of the world's greatest natural wonders, the Pacific Ocean, are being made. However, the movies are being made by researchers rather than entertainers. At Oregon State University's College of Oceanography, these researchers are working on a project that observes and models the ocean's dynamics.

Liam Gumley's frame tools  
These IDL tools (FSET, AF, BF, LF, SF, FSAVE, FRESTORE) provide a handy replacement for the WINDOW command. The FSET command creates a graphics window (with or without scrollbars) which "contains" a user-specified number of frames. Any kind of graphic may be displayed in each frame.

Printing Utilities  
XFWINDOW - One-click printing (Unix) XFWINDOW is an intelligent widget for IDL which makes Unix printing a snap! It remembers any graphics commands you have typed, allowing you to send the output to a file or printer with the single push of a button. You no longer have to mess around with SET_PLOT, DEVICE, or any of the other cumbersome commands. XFILTER is a loadable module for IDL which makes this process possible...
