This demonstration of Fuzzy Logic has been created using the Fuzzy Java Toolkit that was created by the Integrated Reasoning Group of the Institute for Information Technology of the National Research Council of Canada. The code for this demo is entirely Java code, although there is a capability to create more sophisticated rule based expert systems in concert with the Jess (Java Expert System Shell) from Sandia National Laboratories (see the associated demo of the hybrid Java/Jess Fuzzy Shower).

| Using Fuzzy Logic for Molecular Modeling
|
Update Link / Bad Link? |

Since fuzzy logic is, by definition, imprecise, it is a natural means of representing the imprecision of lattice parameters and bond angles. Fuzzy lattice parameters are created by collecting parameter values from the literature. From the minimum, maximum, and average of these parameter values, a fuzzy number is created that represents the imprecision in that parameter. Then, through the use of fuzzy arithmetic operators and recently developed fuzzy trigonometric functions, fuzzy atom locations within the unit cell and bond angles can be calculated. The benefit of using fuzzy logic in this manner is that it directly enables representation and calculation with the imprecision found in chemical compounds, which arises from measurement variability due to measurement error, structural defects, and thermal and vibrational characteristics.

InfoSapient is a rules engine that allows business analysts to enter and maintain business rules using everyday language. The resulting automated decision-making is similar to the way informed human make decisions. Many variables are considered simultaneously and used to weigh risks and opportunities in order to arrive at the best course of action. This allows complex decision-making to take place at the precise moment it is needed without depending on the various levels of skills and experience of a corporate IT division.

| Aggregation operators approximation tool

This software allows one to fit parameters of various classes of aggregation operators (that model conjunction, disjunction and averaging in fuzzy logic) to empirical data. It implements various constrained regression models, that are tailored to aggregation operators.
