| Free MathWorks Online Seminar: New Tools for Time-Series Analysis in MATLAB and Simulink |
Update Link / Bad Link? |
Time-based data is everywhere, often in large quantities, and engineers and scientists need to be able to process, analyze, and make decisions based on this data. This recorded webinar introduces the new tools available in MATLAB and Simulink that simplify the analysis and visualization of time series data. Viewers will learn how to create time series data objects in MATLAB and Simulink, and use the new Time Series Tool graphical user interface.

| Accelerating Matlab |
Update Link / Bad Link? |
Matlab is a very useful programming environment, but it also has many inefficiencies. You might think that these are unavoidable, but in fact it is possible to fix most of them, without significantly changing your programs. This page describes some easy ways to modify the Matlab environment to make programs run faster.

| Power System Toolbox |
Update Link / Bad Link? |
PST was intially developed by Joe Chow of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to enable users to perform power system analysis within MATLAB; it is now developed and mantained by Cherry Tree Scientific Software. It consists of a set of coordinated MATLAB m-files, power system application demo files, data files and a Users' Manual. A new version (2.0) is now available, which has been considerably enhanced from version 1.0. The enhancements have made the toolbox more easy to use and it also has added models for induction motors and HVDC links. This version was developed using MATLAB Version 4.2c, but it has been converted to be fully MATLAB 5.* compatible.
Two of the major differences from version 1.0 is that separate simulation drivers for each data set are no longer necessary and vector computation is used even with mixed model types. Both of these enhancements stem from the pre-calculation of model indexes. Simulation times have been improved and are now largely independent of model size. The time for a transient simulation now depends almost entirely on the number of time steps required. A switching file is used to specify the course of a transient simulation and it is possible to specify longer time steps in the post fault system.
The induction motor model will be useful to all who are interested in the effects of system loads, and the new HVDC and induction generator models should widen the applicability of the simulation.
New test cases have been added. A number are based on the two-area system originally put together by Ontario Hydro in their study of inter-area oscillations. Another is the New England case.

To monitor the usage of the licences, controlled by a FLEXlm license-server, WALKlm is a useful tool. This script checks at regular intervals how many licenses are in use. The result of this is written to a html file once a day. With this data, an administrator can decide if there are enough licenses in the department, or not.If you see, that the server load is high, you can buy additional licenses to provide a good service without idle time for the users.

| Text to Matrix Generator (TMG) |
Update Link / Bad Link? |
Text to Matrix Generator (TMG) is a MATLAB® toolbox that can be used for various tasks in text mining (TM). Most of TMG (version 4.0) is written in MATLAB, though a large segment of the indexing phase of the current version of TMG is written in Perl. Previous versions that were strictly MATLAB are also available. If MySQL and the MATLAB Database Toolbox are available, TMG exploits their functionality for additional flexibility.
TMG is especially suited for TM applications where data is high-dimensional but extremely sparse as it uses the sparse matrix infrastructure of MATLAB.
