Upcoming MATLAB Programming Contest
The next MATLAB Programming Contest runs from November 2 to 9, 2005. Participants from all over the world submit their entries online, and each entry is scored and ranked in real time. Set aside some time to participate or watch as competitors vie for the top spot. Sign up to receive contest announcements via e-mail.

EasyBMP Cross Platform Bitmap Library
EasyBMP is an easy cross-platform C++ library for reading and writing Windows bitmap (BMP) files. It requires no installation, no need for external libraries, is small in size, well-documented, and simple enough for the novice programmer to start in just minutes. EasyBMP is an easy image input/output tool for scientists and other technically-minded people who may not be formally trained in programming.

The Data Description Toolbox
The Data Description Toolbox, built on MATLAB, provides tools, classifiers and evaluation functions for the research of one-class classification (or data description).

Open Discrete Dynamic Programming Template
Open Discrete Dynamic Programming Template finds the optimal constrained parameters of discrete controls with a second order optimization template. The Hessian is replaced with directional derivatives and backpropagation is used for the digital filter (as in neural network).

Florencesoft DiffEngineX for Excel
DiffEngineX is a utility that finds the differences between the formulae and constants contained in either two whole Excel workbooks or selected worksheets. It generates a cell-by-cell difference report in a new workbook and color highlights different cells in copies of your workbooks.

Using MATLAB® and the Statistics Toolbox for Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)

Many successful organizations practice Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) to improve engineering designs and processes. Join us for this live webinar, to be broadcast on November 2, 2005, that will highlight how MATLAB provides the tools necessary to successfully perform common tasks used in DFSS projects. Previous knowledge of MATLAB is not required for this webinar.

Modeling Event-Driven Systems in Simulink® and Stateflow®
This webinar, to be held on November 10, will introduce how Stateflow, an interactive design and simulation tool for event-driven systems, can be used to model the supervisory commands and control logic in your embedded algorithms designed in Simulink.

New Approaches to Constrained Optimization in MATLAB
When looking for the best solution to a problem, there are often constraints that limit the range of possible solutions. This webinar, to be broadcast on November 22, shows new approaches used by the Genetic Algorithm and Direct Search Toolbox for solving real-world constrained optimization problems.
